Quick design apporaches for compositions, proportions and spatial borders are created. They allow first steps in designing open spaces. In an abstract way, the topic will be elaborated and certain variants carried out as models. In collective presentation within the project group, the solutions and their respective features and qualities will be compared and evaluated.

In order to practice compositions, the task is to create tension within a square piece of grey cardboard, using three free or straight lines and one point at the maximum. The cardboard can be cut, scratched, sanded and so on. The kind of treatment should support the message of the composition. In a second step, the prior elaborated basic composition will be interpreted and transferred into the third dimension.

The composition evolves from flat into space. In the process, the emerging cardboard model superelevates the tension found in the first step.
