INTRODUCTION COURSE

UNIVERSITY OF STUTTGART
CAMPUS STADTMITTE
WS 20/21

Shortly before the renewed tightening of contact restrictions, we were again able to personally welcome around 170 students of the Bachelor of Architecture and Urban Planning to the campus for the introductory week at the start of the winter semester. The introductory event took place on 28.10.20 on the outdoor areas of Campus Stadtmitte - in compliance with all hygiene rules, divided into two runs with 85 people each and postponed by two days due to heavy rainfall. To be on the safe side, all students received a rain cape.

After a video welcome by the dean, the students were introduced to the introductory course and the architectural studies by Prof. Sybil Kohl, Prof. Ulrike Böhm and Kyra Bullert. Afterwards, the students and their supervisors were able to 'take a close look' at each other - at a minimum distance and divided into 11 circles.

Since Monday, the students had already been working in 21 small groups in Stuttgart on the introductory tasks on the topics of 'city' and 'space'. The 22nd group could deal with both tasks online. Their results, a selection of photos on the task 'City' and films on the task 'Space', were presented for a week in a window exhibition in the foyer of the K1 college building.

The event was planned, organised and carried out by student representatives and institutes of the faculty. Participants were the student council FAUS, Prof. Sybil Kohl from the Institute of Representation and Design, Prof. Ulrike Böhm from the Institute of Urban Planning, Department of Open Space Design, and Kyra Bullert from the Institute of Spatial Concepts and Design. We would like to express our special thanks to all of them - including the many helpers - for their great commitment.
